Terms of Service

The terms that govern your use of the AdviceOnly website.

Last updated: July 7, 2026

1. Agreement to these terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Advice Only, PBC ("AdviceOnly," "we," "us"), and they govern your use of the website at adviceonly.com (the "Site"). By accessing or using the Site, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

2. Who we are

Advice Only, PBC is a Public Benefit Corporation and an investment adviser registered with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (CRD #334039). Registration does not imply a certain level of skill or training. Colloquially, we go by "AdviceOnly." The Site connects people with flat-fee, advice-only financial planners and publishes educational content about personal finance.

3. What the Site is, and what it is not

The Site is an informational and educational resource. Using the Site does not make you a client of AdviceOnly or of any advisor listed on it, and nothing on the Site is individualized investment, tax, legal, or accounting advice. An advisory relationship is formed only through a separate written agreement with an advisor, after the disclosures required by law (including Form ADV, available on our disclosures page).

4. The advisor directory

The Find an Advisor directory lists financial advisors who are Investment Adviser Representatives operating under AdviceOnly's registration. Directory information — including fees, specializations, and availability — is provided by the advisors and updated periodically; we work to keep it accurate but do not guarantee that every detail is current at the moment you read it. Confirm the specifics, including fees, directly with an advisor before engaging them. You can independently verify any advisor's registration through the SEC's Investment Adviser Public Disclosure website (adviserinfo.sec.gov).

5. Educational content

Our glossary, guides, and blog explain personal-finance concepts in general terms. This content:

  • is educational only — it does not consider your individual circumstances and is not a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold any investment or to pursue any strategy;
  • may include hypothetical examples, which are illustrations, not predictions or promises of results;
  • may reference laws, tax rules, and dollar limits that change — verify time-sensitive figures with official sources (such as IRS.gov or SSA.gov) or a qualified professional before acting on them.

Investing involves risk, including the possible loss of principal. Past performance does not guarantee future results.

6. Using the Site

You may use the Site for any lawful, personal, or professional purpose consistent with these Terms — including reading, linking to, and briefly quoting our content with attribution and a link back to the source page.

7. Prohibited uses

You agree not to:

  • use the Site in a way that violates any applicable law or regulation;
  • attempt to probe, breach, or test the vulnerability of the Site or its infrastructure, or interfere with its operation (including by transmitting malware or launching denial-of-service attacks);
  • misrepresent your affiliation with AdviceOnly, or present our content in a way that implies an endorsement we haven't given;
  • harvest contact information from the Site to send unsolicited commercial messages to our advisors, team, or anyone else;
  • republish substantial portions of the Site as your own work, or remove attribution, copyright, or source notices from our content.

8. Intellectual property

The Site and its content (text, graphics, logos, and design) are owned by Advice Only, PBC or used with permission, and are protected by copyright and trademark law. We grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive license to access and use the Site consistent with these Terms. The AdviceOnly name and logo may not be used without our prior written permission, except to accurately refer to us.

9. Third-party services and links

The Site links to and integrates with services we don't control, including scheduling tools (such as Calendly), our email newsletter provider (Mailchimp), our community platform at community.adviceonly.com (hosted by Circle, under its own terms), advisors' own firm websites, and government resources. Those services have their own terms and privacy practices, and we are not responsible for their content or operation. A link from the Site is not an endorsement.

10. Newsletter and communications

If you subscribe to our newsletter, you agree to receive periodic emails from us. Every newsletter includes an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time.

11. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains what information we collect from Site visitors and how we use it. By using the Site, you also agree to the Privacy Policy.

12. Availability and changes to the Site

We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Site at any time, and we don't guarantee the Site will be available without interruption or error. We may perform maintenance, and content may be updated, corrected, or removed without notice.

13. Disclaimers

The Site is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. Nothing in these Terms limits or waives any duty we owe a client under a written advisory agreement, the Investment Advisers Act of 1940, or other applicable law that cannot be limited or waived.

14. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Advice Only, PBC and its officers, employees, and advisors will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including lost profits or investment losses — arising from your use of the Site or reliance on its content. Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability for claims relating to the Site is limited to the greatest extent permitted by applicable law. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

15. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Advice Only, PBC and its officers, employees, and advisors from claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your violation of these Terms or your unlawful use of the Site.

16. Suspension and termination

These Terms apply from your first use of the Site. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Site at any time if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms. Sections that by their nature should survive — including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnification — survive any termination.

17. Changes to these Terms

We may revise these Terms from time to time. The current version is always posted on this page with its "Last updated" date. Substantive changes take effect when posted, and your continued use of the Site after that constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

18. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the Site that cannot be resolved informally will be brought in the state or federal courts located in San Diego County, California, and you consent to their jurisdiction. Before filing any claim, you agree to contact us and give us 30 days to try to resolve the issue informally.

19. General

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remain in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. You may not assign these Terms; we may assign them in connection with a reorganization or transfer of our business. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us about your use of the Site.
